Veikko Aaltonen
Director Veikko Aaltonen (b. 1955) began his career in the mid-1970s as a sound editor. Some years later he worked with the acclaimed Finnish director Rauni Mollberg as a co-writer on two of his films, Milka (1980) and The Unknown Soldier (1985), on which he also worked as assistant director. In 1987, Aaltonen directed his first feature film, The Final Arrangement, which he co-wrote with Aki Kaurismäki, who also produced the film. Five years later he directed a film that has been considered his breakthrough, The Prodigal Son (1992), for which he won several Finnish awards. In addition to directing, Aaltonen has also worked as an editor, actor and producer.
