Nun or Never! in competition at Clermont-Ferrand

Nun or Never!, a short animation by Heta Jäälinoja, has been selected to the international competition of the top short film festival in Europe. Clermont-Ferrand saw over 9,400 submissions this year, an all time high, and 66 films were selected to the international competition.
Nun or Never! premiered in competition in Annecy last summer, and went on to over 40 festival during the second half of 2023, including Toronto IFF and Nordisk Panorama. The film is produced by Jani Lehto for Böhle Studios.
Two Bodies on a Beach (2019), by Anna Paavilainen, is in the special section titled EuroVisions – European Women with a movie camera. The 22 films in the section focus on the female gaze in European film between 2013–2023. Two Bodies on a Beach was in Clermont-Ferrand already in 2020, in the festival’s Lab Competition.
Pavel Andonov’s short fiction Blue Note is in the European Short Film Audience Awards section. The film, starring Alma Pöysti and David Kozma, has traveled the festivals and was nominated last year for a Jussi Award, the Finnish national film award.
Clermont-Ferrand has chosen a selection of films from its market catalogue under the Market Pick banner. The Finnish titles among the selection are Hius by Sebastian Granskog, Fleeting Horizon by Joona Mäkelä, Surface by Anna Kekkonen and Water Tower Symphony by Panu Johansson.
Finnish Film Foundation is present in the festival’s Short Film Market, under the Scandinavian Films umbrella. Otto Suuronen, Advisor for International Promotion of Short Films, is available for meetings with festival representatives and other film professionals.
