Lübeck dedicates its Homage to Kati Outinen
Nordic Film Days in the Northern German city of Lübeck takes place November 6–10, 2024.

Actor Kati Outinen, who became internationally known through her work in Aki Kaurismäki‘s films, is honored at the 66th Nordic Film Days in Lübeck. The award is handed out at the opening ceremony on November 6th. Previous award recipients include actors Liv Ullman and Trine Dyrholm.
Artistic director of the festival, Thomas Hailer says: “It is possible to get utterly lost in her face; it tells stories drawn directly from real life. The slightest twitch at the corner of her mouth, or a barely raised eyebrow can reveal the inner life of her heroines. And with that, she puts seemingly marginal characters squarely in our focus.”
Kati Outinen studied at the Finnish Theatre Academy and started working early both in cinema and theatre. In 2002, she won the Award for Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in Aki Kaurismäki’s The Man Without a Past. Outinen has picked the films screened in the Homage section, all collaborations with Kaurismäki:
