Finnish film in focus at the Chicago International Film Festival

The focus program features new drama comedies as well as a Kaurismäki classic. Once Upon a Time in a Forest is in the Documentary Competition.

The 60th Chicago International Film Festival takes place October 16–27, 2024. The section titled In Focus shows Finland on screen, and it is organized in cooperation with the Finnish Film Foundation.

The new films in the program are Long Good Thursday by Mika Kaurismäki, Missile by Miia Tervo and the short film collection titled The Silent Trilogy by Juho Kuosmanen. Aki Kaurismäki‘s Cannes Grand Prix winner The Man Without a Past from 2002 is also screened at the festival. Once Upon a Time in a Forest by Virpi Suutari was selected to the Documentary Competition.

The Finnish guests in Chicago include actor Jaana Saarinen from Long Good Thursday, director Miia Tervo, director Juho Kuosmanen who serves in the International Competition jury, and actor Alma Pöysti who is in the New Directors Competition jury
