IRON SKY WENT STRAIGHT TO NUMBER ONE IN FINLAND

As expected, Iron Sky by Timo Vuorensola was the most popular film over the Easter Weekend. On a four-day weekend (from Friday till Monday) it got 47.687 admissions. The film´s premiere was already on Wednesday the 4th of April. When the advance screenings are counted in, the film has now a total of 76.027 admissions. Iron Sky tells how in the last moments of World War II, a secret Nazi space program evaded destruction by fleeing to the Dark Side of the Moon. During 70 years of utter secrecy, the Nazis constructed a gigantic space fortress with a massive armada of flying saucers in order to launch an attack on Earth. Iron Sky is produced by Blind Spot Pictures, and it is a Finnish-German-Australian co-production. Film is distributed in Finland by Buena Vista International Finland on 88 screens.

The Hunger Games takes a second place on the chart and was seen by 24.976 spectators. It has been seen by a total of 126.512 moviegoers so far.

This week´s premiere Titanic 3D went to number three with 23.011 admissions (23.389 admissions in total when the advance screenings are counted in). One of the most successful films ever worldwide, the original Titanic is the third most popular film in Finland with its 1.040.000 admissions. The 3D version was released to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. In Finland, the film is distributed by FS Film on 66 screens.

On the fourth place was another premiere film American Reunion with 22.092 admissions. The film is the fourth film in the popular American Pie series. Finnkino distributed the film in Finland on 48 screens.

Dr. Seuss´ The Lorax was number five with 12.961 admissions. The film, which is based on the popular Dr. Seuss childrens´ books, has now been seen by 25.697 viewers in Finland.

Ricky Rapper and Cool Wendy doubled its admissions compared to last week. It was seen by 6.535 moviegoers and was number six on the chart. The third Ricky Rapper film has now a total of 272.481 admissions.

The third domestic film in Top 10 last weekend was Vares – Gambling Chip by Lauri Törhönen. It was seen by 5.080 viewers and was number seven on the chart. It has now been seen by a total of 46.544 viewers.

Pirates! Band of Misfits was eight with 3.887 admissions. The total admissions figure for this animated film now adds up to 9.279.

Wrath of the Titans was the ninth with 3.433 admissions. It has now a total of 12.437 admissions. The new adaptation of the Snow White titled Mirror Mirror was tenth with 3.433 admissions. It has a total of 8.777 admissions.

There are further five domestic films, which made it to the TOP 20. Madam President by Aleksi Bardy was 11th with 3.372 admissions (10.677 admissions in total). Once Upon a Time in the North by J-P Siili was number 13 on the chart with 2.862 admissions this weekend (136.298 admissions in total). Almost 18 by Maarit Lalli was 15th with 1.813 admissions (33.428 admissions in total). Conquest of the Näsilinna Palace 1918 by Claes Olsson was 19th with 1.289 admissions (11.233 admissions in total). Fanatics by Teppo Airaksinen was 20th with 1.100 admissions this weekend (54.508 admissions now in total).
