Finland is building the world´s first final resting place for nuclear waste. The waste must be left untouched for at least 100 000 years, a time span that – 2000 years A.C.- so utterly defies human comprehension, yet is at the centre of all considerations linked to the construction. The builders must take into account climate change, natural disasters, human oblivion – and maybe worst of all – human curiosity. The film is a documentary vision on time and a group portrait of the pioneers planning for eternity and trying to figure out how best to communicate with an unknown future human race.
